Memorial Day Tournament
Started in 1965 by local Hugh Peterson, this 54 hole stroke play tournament is by invitation only.
96 players, both men and women, are invited to play in this very competitive event each year. The only
cancellation of this event occurred in 1980 when Mount St. Helens erupted and left 2 to 3 inches of ash
on the golf course.
Wayne Sevier Tournament
Originally called the Wild World of Golf Tournament, then as the Budweiser Tournament
reflecting the new sponsor. Now this bestball tournament is called the Wayne Sevier Tournament to honor
Mr. Sevier's many contributions to local golf. First year winners were Stan Edwards and Donny Knott. Stan
later became one of Pinehurst Golf Clubs Professionals, and Donny continued to win numerous area titles and
still plays Pinehurst on a regular basis. Print Entry Form
